Medical Detoxification

Medical DetoxificationThe detoxification program is a medically managed inpatient process designed to cleanse and rid the body of the toxic substance while carefully managing the mental and physical withdrawal symptoms. Our trained medical staff helps each individual work through the detoxification program, minimizing withdrawal symptoms from alcohol and drugs such as amphetamines, cocaine, benzodiazepines, prescription drugs, and opiates among others.

Upon admission, each individual is thoroughly evaluated and diagnosed to determine the most appropriate detoxification program for him or her. A number of different criteria including type and duration of substance use as well as physical and psychological profiles are used to develop a comprehensive personalized detoxification plan. The personalized plan also focuses on common co-occurring or dual diagnosis disorders such as anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.

Medication may be a key component of the treatment plan. Similar to the philosophy advocated by the American Society of Addiction Medicine Medication Assisted Therapy, we believe that recovery compatible medication assistance can be valuable in the detoxification process. Medically managed medications can reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms, adding to the patient’s comfort and improving treatment success. As the comprehensive plan is put into place, each individual is carefully managed and monitored around the clock by the experienced team of medical specialists.
